May is a month of transition spent preparing for the upcoming glorious, yet hectic summer season. It passes by in a flash; a whirlwind of kids sports, final exams, celebrations for the end of the school year, graduations, and more! Each year, we use May to iron out last minute details and put our summer plans into motion.
At Sip and Ship, our goal is to take you where you want to go. Summer is a busy season, whether you’re buzzing from one sun-soaked activity to the next and tackling to-do lists, or wanting to take that last-minute family vacation. Our private mailboxes are convenient and efficient, making life easier, set you up for success and smooth sailing all summer long! Don’t bother your neighbor; the days of asking them to collect your mail when you’re out of town are over. Let us be your trusted partners through our traditional mailbox service so all of your important mail and packages have a secured landing spot. Always on-the-go? Our support team is ready to help through our virtual mailbox online portal allowing you to see what’s arrived for you with a click of a button. Mail can easily be forwarded to wherever you are, checks deposited, or mail opened and scanned, and junk mail discarded upon request. While our remote services are convenient and the best fit for busy travelers, we always love seeing our customers in-store. Our cafes make the perfect retreat on a hot summer day serving up refreshing iced beverages with something delicious baking from our kitchen. Let the aroma of homemade chocolate chip cookies transport you! Armed with cold brew and a slice of lemon poppyseed bread, there’s nothing we can’t do. Let’s make this summer the best one yet! “A vibrant, fair, and generative future is possible – not when thousands of people do climate justice activism perfectly but when millions of people do the best they can.” – Xiye Bastida
Nature gives us so much to be grateful for; a home, health, sense of purpose, and of course some amazing views! On Earth Day, and every other day of the year, it’s critical we challenge ourselves to reflect on practices and lifestyles that are causing harm to our planet. Reimagining small changes can we make individually to reduce waste, promote clean resources, and protect the environment? What large changes can we make together to encourage a wide-spread impact? The aforementioned quote from Xiye Bastida reminded us of our priorities in this season of life, as we focus on being gentle with ourselves, eachother, and most importantly Mother Earth. As an activist, Xiye Bastida is influential in highlighting the intersectionality of the climate crisis. She is also a co-founder of the Re-Earth Initiative which strives to create an accessible environmental movement for all people. As Earth Day passes, we continue conversations on how Sip and Ship does its part in protecting the environment while continually identifying areas for improvement and opportunities to expand in the future. Whether it’s composting with Cedar Grove, being an active participant in the Too Good To Go program to reduce food waste, partnering with Herkimer to provide ethically sourced coffee, and collecting and upcycling packing peanuts, bubble wrap and shipping boxes. Sip and Ship is proud of the work we do furthering our commitment to you and our environment. We hope you had a great weekend and we're excited to help you start the week on a the right foot! Staff Writer: Megan Pavek While we tried our best to remain connected during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was inevitable to lose touch with some old friends, colleagues or family members. Exacerbated by social distancing and the critical importance of protecting ourselves and each other, routine gathering spaces fell to the wayside. The great aunt you only saw during the holidays or summers, neighbors you were fond of, the friend from the gym, and former college roommate. These relationships have disappeared since the pandemic naturally shrunk our social circles.
In today’s world, many adults have limited social connections, and continue to lose touch with former friends or acquaintances. We all have at least one person that comes to mind when thinking of how our circle has changed and morphed over the past three years. At Sip and Ship, our relationships are our lifeline, the magic that makes our worlds sparkle, the umbrella that keeps us dry during the inevitable rainy days, and the happiness that puts a skip in our step! We invite you to revive relationships and reconnect with the people that have impacted your life in ways big and small. And of course, as always, we’re here to help! Every day this week we invite you to visit either of our stores to receive a special deal; buy any 3 cards, get the 4th one free! Brighten someone's day with a birthday wish or heartfelt message, a witty anecdote, or a simple and sweet “thinking of you.” We have a colorful greeting card for every occasion, of which a majority are created by local artists and business women. These cards are a great way to send a message in a bottle and reestablish a long lost friendship. Feeling extra advantageous? Include a delectable chocolate from Fran’s or Seattle Chocolate Company. Sip and Ship also has a variety of forever stamps and pens at the ready! With a warm cappuccino in one hand, and a macaron in the other, settle into our cafe and let the writing flow. If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s to prioritize kindness, take care of each other, and remind someone how much they mean to you. Staff Writer: Megan Pavek Feeling blessed with some gorgeous days launching us into spring this year as nice weather invites us to relax, enjoy the outdoors and be carefree. Although, attempting to bask in the sunshine and budding cherry blossoms can be difficult with the upcoming tax deadline looming over your head. Allow your trusted partners at Sip and Ship to make this dreaded annual chore painless!
Access to a high speed printer, efficient shipping services, knowledgeable staff and some of the best coffee in the city makes filing your taxes on-time easier than ever. Upon mailing completion, reward yourself with our wide array of pastries, all baked from scratch and in-house, with the utmost care. Additionally, we recommend treating yourself to a candle or some shower steamers to de-stress and celebrate the small victory of completing your adult responsibilities for the day. April is National Humor Month, but getting your taxes filed on time is no joke! Laughter is a healthy and powerful tool that brings light into situations and reminds us all not to take ourselves too seriously. In this vein, we suggest you utterly shock the IRS to its core and actually have fun doing your taxes this year. Don’t give them the satisfaction of imposing a late penalty, or seeing you flustered. Here at Sip and Ship, we are on standby as your personal problem solvers, ready to make your to-do list disappear in a flash. As your devoted partners, we are always here to help, learn, and laugh with you! Come visit us before April 18th and we’ll ensure that your taxes arrive on time via USPS Priority Flat Rate or certified mail for peace of mind. When your tax-return arrives with a little extra money to spend, promise you’ll remember your favorite store and pay us another visit! Staff Writer: Megan Pavek |
