As Netflix prepares to send its final red envelope, we’ve been reflecting on the impact that continues to reverberate from this entrepreneurial success story. A lot has changed over the past 25 years; from becoming one of the biggest customers at the U.S. Postal Service to paving the way for the streaming services we all know and love today. Trends come and go, technologies advance, and forms of communication shift. As we plunge forward into the future one constant remains; the importance of reliable mailing services. Before the ease of a phone call, text, or email, we relied on mail to share information with one another. Step 1: Build a network of local female business owners who support and empower one another, check! Last Thursday morning, we packed the Greenwood Sip and Ship with over 50 brilliant businesswomen and entrepreneurs to exchange advice, successes, and lessons learned. Our fearless Sip and Ship leader Diana, and highly respected founder of CoCreate Work La’Kita Williams joined forces to open a dialogue on cultivating a successful small business. Diana shared that there is never a perfect time to start your dream so don’t put it off another minute- just begin! She acknowledged that building a business, a team, and a community is awkward, uncomfortable, and full of unknowns. And while it may feel isolating at times, you are never alone. La’Kita reminded us of the power behind embracing the reset. Practicing the pause, being able to reassess, and taking an intentional step forward helps us effectively and intentionally tackle challenges as they arise. Our ability to begin again is a superpower, not a weakness. Gathering this group of local business women was a privilege that felt so important and meaningful to us. You now have the resources and support of over 50 local entrepreneurs in your corner! One of our attendees, Megan Edwards, Founder of Salon Ritual writes, "I am so grateful. Staff Writer: Megan Pavek What sets Sip and Ship apart is how we go above and beyond for our customers. Providing excellent service is at the forefront of every thing we do. Even in hectic times or days off, we are never too busy to prioritize what matters most. This is exactly what happened a few weeks ago when a couple traveling to Burning Man was facing some logistical issues. Hailing from Montreal, they had wanted to order specialized bikes, gifts, and other supplies from Amazon. However, the items could not be shipped to Canada which initiated a search for a secure shipping address located in the US. After further investigation, they decided to contact Sip and Ship to see if we could help. Working with Emmanuel and Sarah a solution was found: they opened a temporary virtual mailbox and shipped their supplies to us. The only catch was accommodating their travel schedule as they drove to Seattle to pick up the packages before continuing on to Nevada. Diana and Steve graciously agreed to come in on their day off and open up the store, after hours, to make this happen. This is a true testament to Sip and Ship’s commitment of supporting our customers and making their dreams a reality! Our virtual mailboxes give you more options; to make the most of the time you have, to do the thing, tackle the bucket list, and let us handle the logistics! We are so grateful for customers like Emmanuel and Sarah who trusted us with their important belongings, details and ultimately, cherished memories. In fact, Sarah infomed us last week that Burning Man is going to be a regular trip for them, and they are already planning a return trip next year! We can add our decadent pumpkin spice sauce, swirling with delightful notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, to any drink, from a cold brew to a cappuccino. Your daily coffee is now extra cozy. Imagine curling up with one of our new blankets to settle in, slow down, and watch the seasons change. And if you need weekend plans we’ve also got you covered- this weekend is the annual PhinneyWood Art Walk! Sip and Ship is a proud participant, ecstatic to host local artist Cody Blomberg and feature his work outside of our Greenwood shop: Cody Blomberg is a theatre and band geek turned visual artist. He paints people, pet portraits, wildlife art, fantasy, murals for children’s spaces, and commissions for private collections. The act of creating the beautiful object and all the steps it takes to get the artwork into the lives of others brings meaning, purpose, and pleasure to his life. You can view Cody’s work here.
